Collins Brothers was founded in 1910 in Larchmont, NY, when William Collins began transporting furniture and freight throughout Westchester County and New York City with a horse and wagon. Over the decades, the company grew steadily, earning a reputation for professionalism, reliability, and exceptional customer service. In 1972, the business was purchased by Frank E. Webers. It consisted of just three employees and two vans at the time.

Growth Through Expansion

With a passion for the industry and through an unparalleled culture of customer service, Frank was able to grow Collins Brothers from a respected local mover into a full-service moving, storage, and logistics coordinator capable of supporting local and long distance residential relocations and large-scale commercial projects throughout the tri- state area and nationwide. Today, the company employs more than 200 professionals, operates over 300 pieces of equipment and coordinates moves for individuals, families and businesses nationwide every day.

Despatch of Southampton

As Collins Brothers’ client base grew, so did the need to support homeowners, designers, architects, and builders managing projects across multiple residences in New York City, Westchester, Connecticut, and the Hamptons. To better serve these clients, Collins Brothers acquired Despatch of Southampton in 2001, a trusted Hamptons company that had been serving the East End since 1957.

The acquisition created a seamless connection between the tri-state area and the Hamptons, providing one experienced team for receiving, storage, transportation, white-glove delivery, and installation. Today, Collins Brothers and Despatch combine the personalized service of a local company with the resources, expertise, and nationwide reach to support clients wherever they live and work.

Collins Brothers Moving & Storage

In 2002, Collins Brothers expanded its operations further by opening a full-service facility in Sterling, Virginia, just 25 miles outside Washington, D.C. This strategic location enabled the company to better serve clients throughout the East Coast while establishing a strong local presence. Today, the 70,000-square-foot facility supports a wide range of services, including residential and commercial moving, logistics, warehousing, secure storage, government contracts, and specialized solutions for interior designers and the hospitality industry. Backed by a dedicated team of experienced professionals, the Sterling location has become a trusted resource for clients seeking comprehensive moving and logistics services.
